Jason Brown
Jason Brown grew up in Maine. He received an MFA from Cornell and was a Wallace Stegner and a Truman Capote Fellow at Stanford University. He has won numerous fiction prizes and his work has appeared in publications such as The Best American Short Stories, Harper’s, Open City, The Georgia Review, TriQuarterly, and The Atlantic. His first book was Driving the Heart and Other Stories.
Marc Johnson
Marc, began publishing software professionally at the age of 13. As an engineer and manager at Cisco Systems, Marc’s team shipped software components for a new super-router: the largest and most complex engineering undertaking in Cisco’s history at the time. Previously, Marc pioneered wireless technology for MetroTrak LLC, worked as Project Leader for New Technologies at Dayton Hudson Corporation, and as a Software Engineer for ETA Supercomputer Systems. He currently enjoys working for the world’s second largest retailer in an innovation (R&D) group. Marc’s interests include biking, photography, evolutionary algorithms, improvisational piano and teaching his children to beat him in tennis.
Adam L. Penenberg
Adam L. Penenberg has written for Forbes, The New York Times, Fast Company, Inc., Slate, Wired, The Economist, Mother Jones and Playboy. A former Senior Editor at Forbes and reporter for Forbes.com, Penenberg garnered national attention in 1998 for unmasking serial fabricator Stephen Glass of The New Republic. Penenberg’s story was a watershed for online investigative journalism and is portrayed in the film “Shattered Glass” (Steve Zahn plays Penenberg). Currently he’s writing a new book, VIRAL LOOP, to be published by Hyperion.
Randy Schwartz
VP, National Director Search, Carat: As Carat’s national search director, Randy Schwartz brings a holistic view of search engine marketing as it relates to digital media, brand management and corporate communications. Since joining Carat, Randy has built highly dynamic and progressive search marketing programs for clients that include Pfizer, Wyndham Hotels, RE/MAX, Alberto Culver and Revlon. Prior to Carat, Randy has spent over a decade in the digital world and built two start-up agencies which were acquired for a combined $60MM. Randy founded the media department of Reprise Media, where he oversaw account strategies for clients that included Yahoo!, Capital One, Palm Pilot and New York Times. Randy also founded the digital media unit of IN2 Interactive, which was later acquired by TMP/Monster. There he brought digital media solutions to an array of clients including iVillage, Columbia House and CMP Publishing. He holds a B.S. from Cornell University.
Jeff Wise
Jeff published his first freelance article at the age of 15 in the computer magazine Compute!
Upon graduation from Harvard he moved to New York City, where he worked briefly as a freelancer and then was hired as an editorial assistant at Seven Days magazine. When that magazine folded in 1990 he moved to Hong Kong, where he again worked as a freelance magazine writer, penning articles for Esquire, The New York Times magazine, Travel & Leisure, and others. He also worked as an associate editor at Discovery, the inflight magazine of Cathay Pacific.
In 1995 he moved back to New York, where he worked as an associate editor at Travel & Leisure. After 11 months he left fulltime employment for the last time, and has been a full-time freelance writer ever since. Currently he is a contributing editor at Travel & Leisure, Popular Mechanics, Fortune Small Business, and Outside’s GO.
In 2001 he published his first book, The American Dating Association’s Universal Dating Regulations and Bylaws.
